This page lists all local gov researchers who are currently studying for a degree. This page is created so that other people are aware of your research and possibly be able to help. It is also my vision that local gov researchers will one day receive some funding to achieve better results and get better access to research data or participants. So please feel free to fill in the form below if you are one of the epic visionary researchers! :-)

"Using Social Media for Engagement with Local Government – A Comparison of the Attitudes and Perceptions of Council Officers and Citizens." I have completed 18 semi-structured interviews, 9 with citizens and 9 with local government officers. My research and analysis is from a human-computer interaction perspective. I hope my findings will inform design and use of social media for engagement within my organisation (Cambridgeshire County Council) and be useful to other authorities and consultants working in the field. My dissertation will be complete by the end of August 2010. I hope to share the findings with anyone who is interested on my blog. |

"The impact of web content authoring models on effective and efficient online communication in local government." Looking into the devolved authorship model through interpretive research including qualitative data collection and case studies. I hope this research will formalise the research I've already carried out into the content author models councils are using and the problems which seem to be common across the sector. |

"The weight of words - achieving a balance between broadcast information and user generated content in local authority web environments." Investigating the current imbalance of content provision on council web sites, acknowledging that the balance is shifting, and looking at the opportunities that social media gives us for creating shared web spaces. My main interest is in helping councils to value local people as content providers, not passive recipients of information.
